Urine Sugar

Question
Hello,
I am a newbie and found something on a thread in the newbie section that has me worried.
A gentleman over there was describing how his roommate at Swift orientation was dismissed/sent home because of urine sugar.
Oops.
As far as I know, I have had this condition since before I was 18 years of age. It was caught when I attempted to join the military. I was sent home with a note for my doctor, who promptly put my in the hospital for almost a week, checking my blood sugar before and after each meal. The results were that my blood sugar level was fine, but that my body passed excess sugar out my urine instead of storing it. He (doctor) recommended a diet of fish, salads, and NO sugars. Yea, right.
I later went back to the military testing station and passed with a little creativity.
Now I haven't tested this in years, and I recently had to have a test for my CDL, but as far as I know, this condition doesn't ever go away? The only thing I can assume, is that the lady at the clinic didn't test my urine correctly?
I am 47, 6'3" and 240 lbs (I'm large boned/framed, but I'm about 30 lbs. overweight). I eat normally, have no problems with energy/strength, etc., and don't get sick (until the clinic, I hadn't seen a doctor since getting out of the Corps in '81). Until recently, I was an engineering executive, so I doubt that I have any concentration/memory problems. Health hasn't been one of my problems. Lucky I guess....
I will get some test tape today, and check this, but I am to report to Werner next Wed. for orientation.
Question: How do I control this, if I do have it, so that I don't test positive for glucose at Werner?
Help?
Bill Miller

Answer
Go first thing in the morning before you've had anything to eat or drink.
Good luck.
