Question
what is the effect of these drugs on the drug test. last time i got a dot physical they said it would cause a false positive. i'm just amazed that if these can show a positive, how come nobody has pulled this drugs out of the truckstops. a few years ago i had good luck losing weight with metabolife. i only took 2 pills a night, it kept me from buying that big bottle of pop and bag of chips or candy bar. once i researched it and found out what it could do, i quit taking it.
another ??? at what dosage will this cause a positive test and how long does it stay in your system after taking it?
for all of you taking any of those truckstop energy pills. WATCH IT!
be careful

Answer
A) They are legal to sell and
B) They make money
Truckstops could care less what is and is not against the "regulations". Did ya ever notice that any cough med they sell is NOT alcohol free?????
As you read the rest of this, keep in mind that there is a big difference between DOT drug testing and the type you take when you go to work for WALMART.
Ephedra and Ephedrine can cause false positives on initial screening. A DOT specimen initially testing positive will be retested using GCMS for confirmation. GCMS=Gas Chromataspectography which essentially finger prints chemical byproduct breakdown. Each of the 5 drugs tested for have SPECIFIC byproduct residue that can NOT be caused by anything else.
Ephedra will not test positive on the second testing.
Some testing, done for NON DOT purposes, WILL show positive test results because they DO NOT do the second confirmation testing. Large amounts of Ephedrine in one's system may send up red flags regarding METH Amphetamines however.

Answer
if a person takes a dose(2 pills) of diet pills at midnight, and then gets random drug screened that morning at 8am will the driver get a false positive or is there any left in his system.
is the testing center required to inform the company about the first positive before they do the second test.
like i said before, when i found out what might happen by taking ephedrine, i stopped, but what amazes me is it took a post that i archived here at trucknet, i did this after hearing the nfl banned it. i figured if they banned it maybe i should check it out.
with all the trucking mags out there, none have even brought it up.
thanks

Answer
to the Medical Review Officer until Confirmation testing is completed.
The MRO does not release the info to the company until he has attempted to contact the donor to discuss the results.
Only after contacting the donor can the MRO notify the company of the result.
If the donor fails to contact the MRO or refuses to discuss the result, the result can be released without discussion.
