What to do?

Question
Okay, this is Saturday, it's been 3 days since oral surgery. I am still hurting, still swollen, and I think I have a low grade fever. I feel terrible right now. But I've been off work since Tues, and dispatch wants me back to work on Mon. I cant afford not to work/ am not sure I'm up to going back to work. If I don't start feeling better tomorrow, Im gonna be really stuck. Here I am between a rock and a hard place. What should I do?

Answer
Sorry to hear about this... Tell dispatch that you cannot go since you're under medication that disqualifies you from driving safely... Never mind dispatch... go to Saftey and explain to them. Then I would get to a doctor. You might have an infection.

Answer
The swelling should start going down in the next day or two. The pain will lighten up some as the swelling goes down, but some pain will linger for some time after the swelling is gone. If it was a tooth extraction the one thing that you MUST becarefull of is getting a dry socket. That hurts worse then the original tooth ache.
The one thing that drivers must watch out for is the pain medication that the doc gave you. If it has codeine in it try your best not to take it. Take Ibuprophen in stead and hold on. If you have taken it then MAKE SURE you tell your employer BEFORE you report to work. Also DO NOT TAKE IT WITH YOU IN THE TRUCK. Even though it is prescription it means trouble.
Now for the disclamer: I am not a doctor nor a dentist so the advice given is only from having a few teeth pull from my own head.
I hope that I have been of some help to you.

Wish you a safe trip.

Sheesh, guys, I don't know what your financial obligations are, and you don't know what financial obligations I face, either. While Im not going into detail, suffice to say I have some pretty steep bills to pay, and have had some very high unexpected additional expenses lately. I guess I knew the response was coming, however, as fresh as the discussion was concerning Prime. This is, however, no reflection on my earlier position. You simply need to realize that other people have different finances than you do. Oak Hay??

A low grade fever (BELOW 101) is the body going thru the healing process. 101 or higher needs attention!
Anti inflammatories taken on a regular basis will help you avoid the need for the heavy duty stuff.
But if you've gotta, you've gotta and dispatch AND safety need to know about it.

It's below 101, about 100.1. It comes and goes, worse in the afternoon. I'll try to be patient, but I need a couple more days rest I guess, is all. Thanks for your knowledge and caring.
