Question
Hello, My wife has cancer and I am employed by a small company that has health ins. My problem is I can no longer pay the bills at home and need to change jobs. I am scared to do this, I do not want to be caught without coverage. WE have agreat Doctor who has just about got her into remission with a hormone treatment when chemo and radiation didnt work.

Answer
Hello:
My experiance with the Cobra ins is it more than
doubled my ins . Just be careful, I most likely
should have stayed where I was, but like you I was
swimmin, and neede to do a change. Well I think
it was 150/200$ per mth/then with cobra it went
to 450/535$ per mth. Plus that only covered
medical, they dropped my dental+optical+pharmacies
Best of Luck

Answer
But what Chuckie is describing is fairly accurate. It is, for the most part, individual insurance. And when there is a pre-existing condition, it generally causes higher rates.
Think and plan carefully. Also, talk to the current insurance company and see if you can continue with them and pay your own premiums without going the COBRA route.
Please check back and tell us what takes place. Good wishes to you and yours.
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.
