Hey Nurse Red.......I just had my physical done on Thursday and the nurse was showing me the new forms for driver physicals, effective Nov 1-01. Not just the single page anymore are they?? Please explain any changes or new criteria that we have to meet after Hallowe'en.

Mostly just the changes to the form and card itself.
This was the DOT's idea of making it "simpler" for physicians who aren't familiar with the regs to do a compliant physical exam.
I do know that they are really cracking down on person's with a diagnosis of previous cardiac (heart) conditions. Most are being given a 1 year card vs. 2 years and ONLY after much documentation from their cardiologist. Then they are requiring yearly stress tests and the like. This can be very costly for drivers who don't have the insurance coverage for these types of tests.
The new cards are a real pain. they are larger, don't fit in most wallets and are flimsier than the others. Some companies are making their own cards vs. using the ones the DOT recommends.
