Question
Nurse Red, I am an overweight 53 yr old male , and I take Hytrin to regulate my blood pressure, and I take glyburide to control my blood sugar. I was diagonised with type 2 diabeties a year ago, and am doing what the doc says about exercise and diet, although it takes time to undo the done.Do my medications restrict me from driving? Thanks for any answers. Wayne

Answer
I am SOOOOOO Sorry! I have no idea how I overlooked this one.
Oral medications are not disqualifiers, BUT, you may have to jump thru some extra hoops at exam time. You may have to get additional blood work, provide medical records from the Dr who is treating your condition and provide them to the DOT medical examiner, and you may get a restricted card (less than 2 years)depending on how well your diabetes is controlled.
Again I apologize for missing this post.
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.
