Question
I urge anyone with Type II diabetes to check out this link (American Diabetes Asso.). It is an article about a new pill called glucovance. I just found about it last week when my doctor suggested it might help me get off insulin. I had trouble maintaining good control on pills and diet, so about three years ago, I had to go on a low dose of insulin. But with the new pill, my doctor thinks I might be able to kick the insulin. http://www.diabetes.org/main/community/forecast/page41.jsp
My point here is that if you have had diabetes for a while and have just been automatically getting refills on your pills, you might not have heard about glucovance. It has been on the market only since early 2001. The sad part is that when my CDL came up for renewal late last year, I had to give it up because I was on insulin. I had no idea that a new pill was just around the corner that could have eliminated the need for insulin.

With these new pills also come some side effects that could effect an individual adversly. So please make sure that your physician performs the NEEDED tests to make sure your system will not be negatively effected by the meds.
