Question
Hi,
I have been having trouble getting to sleep recently, once I am asleep I am ok (no waking up),
I avoid caffeine etc for 4 hours before bedtime, and try to relax a little before climbing into the bunk..
I dont want to get prescription sleeping tablets as most have an effect on driving even next day..
is there any natural products that I can get that will not affect my driving
Thanks
RIKKI
Answer
Try taking a shower before you go to sleep. This help me to relax when I was OTR and still does know I'm local. Also try reading a BORING book. Notice I said boring, because if it's a good book it will keep you awake.

The shower is a good start make it hot as the body cools it helps you to relax and go to sleep. Other things--- try eating a banana and a glass of milk about 1/2 to one hour before going to bed. Also try some noise, one of those tapes or a fan it helps osme to get to sleep. Your wise to not use the prescription route except in critical situations. you may try the tylenol pm or 25 mg of benadryl before bed. It makes osme tired but do not use for long periods or for less that 8 hours of sleep, they tend to have effects sometimes for that long If I find out anything else ill let you know

In addition, try the above suggestions. I also use this trick. As you lie there, concentrate on relaxation. I start at my toes and very slowly imagine every muscle going limp. The very SLOWLY move my way up, relaxing everything in succession. I don't move on until I know that area is completely relaxed. You may have to really concentrate on this at first. It will surprise you how relaxed you become. Things will loosen up that you didn't even know were tense.
I'm usually asleep by the time I get to my tummy.
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.
