Answer
Had bypass surgery back in '95. After some deliberations by the companies M.O. went back to driving. Hired on to 2 more companies since then with no questions asked, never had the fact of bypass surgery.
Now out due to another heart attack and the likelihood of driving or working again is slim to none.
Interesting note about bypasses. They only give the grafts about 5 years before they close back up again.

That some companies will require a stress test (utilizing Bruce Protocol) on a regular basis in addition to validation from your cardiologist that you are OK.
Glad to hear you are doing well. BRAVO!

Answer
I had bypass surgery in May, 1990. So, it's been nearly 11 years. And, yes, my doc quoted me the same statistic (five years and will need another surgery). I went on a strict diet and exercise program. I have beat the odds, so, don't let the statistic get you down. Maybe you will, too. Good luck.
