HIVES

Question
MY WIFE BREAKS OUT WITH HIVES WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING IT

Answer
Allergies!! I break out in hives every night. I have 2 cats and I have developed an allergy to their dander. Now I can either get rid of my cats or live with the hives. Since my allergy is minor and can be control with an antihistamine I have chosen the pills.
My advice to your wife is to see the Doctor and find out what the allergen is. It could as simple as changing what brand of soap you use.

Answer
Can be time consuming, costly and frustrating.
Sometimes it is a simple as figuring out what you have changed recently, like soap, laundry detergent, body lotion, etc. Other times it may be something you have used, eaten, inhaled for years and your body has decided it doesn't like it anymore.
However, you must try to find out the cause because sometimes, the body will become more agressive in it's reaction if you continue to expose yourself to the allergen. This can at times become life threatening.
See an allergy specialist if you can not soon determine the cause on your own. And if your wife experiences any difficulty swallowing, breathing, or feels as if her throat and tongue are swelling, CALL 911 immediately.

Answer
Since I was 6-7 years old, I break out in hives when I get a chill. It took my doctor months to figure it out when I was a kid.
I grew up and still live in Florida. When ever it starts to get windy and drops below mid 60's I get hives. Sometimes they are small ones and other times the get real, real big. My Mom noticed after trying everything when I was younger, that whenever we went into the grocery store and went down the frozen food isle I would get hives, or after swiming and being in the wind I would get them or if a room was to cold. So my Doctor put me in a cold office and rubbed an ice cube on my arm... and bingo I broke out in big red itchy hives... I dont get em' as much now that I'm older...but when I do I take some over the counter Benedryl...

Answer
CHECK THE FILTERS ON YOUR FURNACE AND YOUR A/C IF
YOU HAVE ONE. PET DANDER CAN CAUSE IT ALSO, BUT
MY NEIGHBOR HAD THEM REAL BAD AND THINKING THAT
IT WAS HER BLACK LAB, SHE GAVE HIM AWAY AND STILL
HAD PROBLEMS. AFTER CLEANING THE FURNACE DUCTS AND THE WHOLE HOUSE BY A COMMERCIAL CLEANING CO.,
SHE AHD HER CENTRAL A/C CHECKED AND IT WAS FULL OF
A MOLDY SUBSTANCE THAT GOT ALL THE SERVICE PEOPLE SNEEZING! REMOVED IT FROM A/C, AND SHE HAS'NT HAD
THEM SINCE. (NOW SHE WANTS HER DOG BACK)
