A few questions regarding Lymes Disease....

Question
I have been bitten by darn good Oregon ticks..... did I get sick ? no ... did they get sick ? they died didn't they ???. anyway ....
We moved to the mountains of North Carolina. Because of the amount of bugs there, We started our dog on the drops, to prevent bugs from biting said dog. What they don't tell you in the advertisements is that, when the bug gets on the treated dog, and finds its area less than hospitable, the bug jumps off and waits for another unknowing victim. Well, I was cruisin' down the hiway in WY, doin' 75, mindin' my own business, when my head itched. Well I reached up to scratch the offending spot ..... and felt the little varmit sittin there, his teeth locked in my scalp. I pulled over at the next exit, and had my hubby carefully remove the hitchhiker. I then cleaned the area, and over the next few days, felt my lymph nodes swell, and a fever and general ill health overtake me. I went post haste to my "left coast" Dr., who prescribed a course of heavy hitting antibiotics, which I took as prescribed. The swelling in the lymph nodes failed to decline, so when I returned to NC, I consulted my "right coast" Dr.. He imformed me that I was suffering from Lymes disease, and put me in the hospital for IV antibiotic therapy, followed by more antibiotics orally. The swelling, overall soreness and fever subsided eventually. But I have never gotten over the fatigue. What is the process of this disease? I have heard that its in your system for your life time, if it is not treated adequately, and in a timely manner. Also, from time to time, the same lymph nodes will swell, and become painful, then subside on their own. Any ideas, or suggestions ??

Answer
Sorry to hear of your health problems.
Unfortunately I have nothing more to offer that your physician's have not already done. Their treatment with heavy duty antibiotics was right on the money.
My only suggestion would be to talk to an herbalist who may be able to come up with some natural ways of boosting energy and immunity during these times of recurrence of symptoms.
I would also like to suggest to any and all who spend time in the woods, allow their pets to roam free in brushy areas, etc...to get the Limerix vaccine. Prevention is always easier than curing the malady.
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.
