DOT Health Question

Question
An O/O friend of mine is having an aneurysm on his aorta (to the stomach) repaired tomorrow. There will an "appliance" put in place to keep the aneurysm from rupturing. The doctor says he will be as good as new and can be released for work in 2-3 weeks. My question is...is there any DOT physical restrictions or regulations to keep him from driving a truck?

Answer
He may have some restrictions on lifting and activity in the beginning until everything is well healed. He needs to be sure that his surgeon is aware of ALL job duties your friend may be required to perform before the surgeon issues a "Return to full duty" status.
Long term should not be an issue if this is his only health problem.
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.
