Nothing Quite Gets Your Attention Like a Toothache

Question
I have had some dental problems for awhile. One by one, or two by two, they are going. I HAD insurance. I don't right now. I just have bills, kids and a lot of pain.
Cant afford the dentist, cuz I'm not even working rite now. Couldn't very well go to the dentist on the road, my dentist wanted me to go to a specialist.
Had differences with dispatch on top of everything else, and was kept broke all the time I was paying for insurance. Hoping for a chance to use it, but never quite had the time, the money and the location lined up together. Too many days off every wk, anywhere but at home... If I asked to go to the dr. I got bonus days off, unpaid.
By the time all was said and done, I had changed jobs, not my idea, didn't have much choice. And lost the insurance that I had. Things were pending at the new job, with a couple more months to go before insurance, but I was feeling tired, run down, and needed to go home. I couldn't do anyone else any good if I couldn't do myself some good. And now the teeth hurt again.
Forgive me, I'm not looking for sympathy. I am scared though. I worry that if I don't work, I wont be able to get this taken care of. But if I dont get this taken care of, how am I going to work?? I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place. If you all have any suggestions, I'll listen. Thanks,

Answer
You can find a dentist who will do the work you need and allow you to make payments. If you have a tax refund coming, maybe you can earmark the money for dental work.
It is a proven fact that abcessed teeth can affect other body parts an systems.
You may want to check with some of the colleges as they have students who will do the work you need cheap or free.
Check it out and let me know what you find out.

Naw, not really.... it looked like a neat header. The dentist last time I was there, gave me a cost breakdown. $9000 to save the teeth I have left, with no guarantee. Or, $3000 to yank em all and put in the choppers. Looks like I get choppers. A dear friend of mine loaned me his cred. card to pay for what I need done, and I will repay him. Now that Monday is here, its time to face the muzak, and the needle. Good Lord, it hurts!
Kind of ironic, you are in Jessup. That was where I was the last time I got sick because of an abcessed tooth. The dr. there at the TA gave me penicillin for it, so i could make it home and get treated.

Answer
Loma Linda Dental School. Emergency Care. They have NO openings til Thurs, the cost is $31 - $150 but they will only treat ONE tooth! Is that crazy or what?
I called my dentist back, the "We Cater to Cowards" dentist, who will get the job done. He will see me in an hour and a half. Gotta go.

But I have NO PAIN...things are gonna be good. I owe my friend, big time! That was a very generous thing to do, and I am grateful. So for the time being, I have (don't laugh!) only two teeth on the bottom, 8 left on top. Dentures are being made..!

That was my office you were in. Why didn't you tell us who ya were?
I had all my remaining teeth pulled at age 20 something. They pulled all the ones on the right, first, a week later pulled all the left ones. Then when the dentures arrived I went back in and they pulled the front ones. They immediately put the dentures in and I went home. It was very painful taking them out and putting them in several times a day to clean them and my mouth, but it was well worth it as my dentures 20 some years later still fit perfectly and I have no need for any of the bonding agents.
As the swelling subsides, your gums shrink down to an exact fit with the dentures. Painful but worth it in the long run. Just be sure you bite (gum) the bullet and do the oral hygiene frequently no matter how much it hurts.
Keep us posted kiddo. And next time you are in Jessup you better come say HI!
