I need to create a forum charter. Jim sent a basic guide a few days ago. I've had trouble writing it. I realized that I didn't want to be the only person who sets the guidelines for this forum. With that in mind, I'm asking for your thoughts. The Charter should:
- Describe the forum and the topic.
- Establish forum specific guidelines.
- Contain a Repository for Frequently Asked Questions.
If you would take another minute to answer the questions, it would help tremendously. Any additional comments are appreciated, too.
- How would you describe our topic? How far-reaching or limited is it?
- Do we need any special rules? Not necessarily about behavior, because that's covered in the general rules, but what about guidelines concerning the content that we post, i.e., copyrighted code and such? Or anything else?
- What kind of forum FAQ would you like to see? It could be as simple as links to the policy pages. Is that adequate?
- Would you like to see a list of links to resources? How would we maintain the quality of the list?

Uh-huh. Y'all are gonna make me do this by myself, aren't ya?

My advice?
Just start writing something, that way folks will have something to react to!
Seriously, from my experience it seems to take a day or more of consideration before you'll start getting feedback, but you'll eventually get some! Good luck!
Thanks for hosting this forum! I appreciate it!

Sorry, I read this the other day and then went ...
I dunno ... somewhere else, and forgot ...
Will make a POINT to go view the Pottery(?) forum to see what you were talking about there, then be back to give you my thoughts/answers to your questions there. But ... you know, like ... LATER. Tomorrow, or, Eventually.

Going to give this a shot... don't laugh or kill me if I sound stupid... no sleep and a shortage of brain cells will do that to a gal my age. LOL
How would you describe our topic?
How to build a website without chewing off your arm in frustration. Hehehe... ok so maybe that is a bit extreme. How about - Building your own website - It's easier than you think!
How far-reaching or limited is it?
This is a hard one... depending on how much devotion a person has to learning the process the sky is the limit. I myself would love to graduate to more complicated or advanced coding later on after the basics have been covered.
Do we need any special rules? Not necessarily about behavior, because that's covered in the general rules, but what about guidelines concerning the content that we post, i.e., copyrighted code and such? Or anything else?
I can't think of any. Perhaps "don't pick your nose while creating your website". It leaves the keyboard quite yuggy.
What kind of forum FAQ would you like to see? It could be as simple as links to the policy pages. Is that adequate?
I would say this is something that would be "built" as the forum progresses. As questions get asked they could be added to the list (not removed from the post they are in just duplicated in the FAQ section). No idea on the policy pages thingamabobby.
Would you like to see a list of links to resources? How would we maintain the quality of the list?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this would be super cool. no idea on maintenance though - aren't I just helpful? lol
