Domain name transfer..please help!!!!!!

Question
OK, I'm not too computer savvy and I don't know any technical terms but here is the problem and I will be so tremendously thankful to anyone who can help.

A year ago I bought a domain name.... 5thstreetfabrics.com I haven't done anything with it. But I recently signed up with citymax.com for help building a website. I have been working on the website and I need to change my website address from 5thstreetfabrics.citymax.com to just 5thstreetfabrics.com

I have no idea how to go about doing this. Citymax says I need to contact my Domain Register...I have no idea who this is.. So I guess the first step is to find out who my domain register is. Can anyone please help?

Answer
Hi MS. T.

I send you a private message. Let me know if it helps any.

Answer
Maybe Jill has already helped you...

Here are my thoughts...

I'd be wary about any 'host' that couldn't/wouldn't answer the questions you ask about transferring your domain. They should be helping you every step of the way. (At least that's why I changed hosts last year and am VERY happy I did so...I found someone { http://sharlyndesign.com/ }that would walk me through all the steps and didn't quit until we had the thing FIXED.)

Good luck! Hope you get it set up soon!

Answer
Oh, and welcome to here! Hope to see you over in the textile forum!

It appears to me that many fabric stores are hosted either at Yahoo or at Quiltropolis. I've heard very good things about the Quiltropolis hosting, but I'm not familiar with the costs, etc. Are you setting up your own shopping cart, etc?

Answer
Here's what your records say now:

Domain Name: 5THSTREETFABRICS.COM
Registrar: MELBOURNE IT, LTD. D/B/A INTERNET NAMES WORLDWIDE
Whois Server: whois.melbourneit.com
Referral URL: http://www.melbourneit.com
Name Server: NS1.DOMAINCITYSERVERS.COM
Name Server: NS2.DOMAINCITYSERVERS.COM

To change your domain to point to your new website, you need to change the name servers like so:
Name Server: ns1.domaincityservers.com
Name Server: ns2.domaincityservers.com

Most domain registrars will have an online utility where you can change that yourself. If this registrar works that way, you should have a userID and password to an account that was set up when you bought the domain name. Just sign in and find the link to change the DNS or Name Servers.
