Question
I am curious to know if any of you host your own domain with a web store where the buyer can buy any product you have listed there. Do you integrate with eBay listings or are they separate? I know there are lots of free and pay options out there. What did you choose?
Answer
I have a simple storefront website with a PayPal shopping cart set up.
If I could integrate it with eBay I would. Best I can do is add a link to my website in any auction correspondence, link to my website on my MePage, and have my eMail address visible in the auction description so they can see that the domain matches my user ID.
Answer
We have a non-Ebay webstore with our own domain.
We invite Ebay buyers to purchase at our website at a discount in our "thank you" email that goes out AFTER the Ebay transaction is finished.
Our webstore uses the same checkout and payment systems as our Ebay auctions with multiple item purchases automatically combined regardless of the source.
Answer
I'd keep them separate... Build my own clientele.. without them going to ebay to buy stuff.. My goal is always, eBay to website, not website to eBay.
The best I've found is x-cart, it's php based and is just about the best you can get for the money.. (under $200), other comparable packages go upwards of $1,000 for the same functions and features..
I know lots of people here on here run it and it's available for a discount from another here member (sharon)

Answer
Sharon (who has done a great job!!!) is getting our site set up and we've been adding items in there past few days. X-cart does work really nicely and has so many powerful features that we can't wait to use.
We're hesitant to change our ebay user ID, but we are going to edit our ebay template, store, about me, etc to mention our new website and our email address. We're also going to direct our ebay buyers to purchase at our website at a discount in our "thank you" email that goes out AFTER the Ebay transaction is finished.
We're using Paypal for all of our payments and we're going to use endicia to prepare our packages for shipping.
Answer
You cannot put any references to your website in your listings - that's a listing violation. You can only reference it on your About Me page, and your prices on your website must be higher than on eBay for the same item, or THAT's a violation of the linking policy.
I have one as well - and use email * that domain for my eBay email address...

I have both a ebay store, and a domain name with my own store.
I use oscommerce oscommerce for the store, its free, open source, and works!
I use paypal for the payment processing.
the store lasermemory also has been expanded so I can list my "best sellers" on my blog, automatically.
Could do worse than check out oscommerce if you want a online store. Nothing to lose, as its free!

You might want to take a look at: www.auctionblox.com. It offers integration of eBay checkout at your osCommerce store, cross-sell of store items, and the latest version even lets your launch your store items as eBay listings.
Disclaimer: Yes, I own this business and have a personal interest in it.

Hi AuctionBlox. Good to see you here, reading the posts.
On here, there is a policy about company affiliations, which can be found close to the bottom of the page at
Notification of Affiliation

...if you are a representative of a company, and will be posting ANYTHING that even remotely might be about your company, you need to adhere to this NOTIFICATION OF AFFILIATION policy prior to posting.
Essentially, you need to email Jim. There's a email link at the bottom of that page. He will set you up with a membership that clearly identifies you as affilliated with AuctionBlox. Saves a lot of time down the road.
Hope you'll stick around and share your knowledge with us.
