Question
I was given access to a piece of equipment that uses Telnet, but I am not sure that I know how to use Telnet.
I opened the program and placed the IP info into the 'Host' box but could not connect.
I suspect that perhaps Telnet does not have access to the internet through the company's cisco firewall. What should be checked/authorized in Windows/Cisco to allow Telnet access? I ask becuase I already know that our NetAdmin has no clue.
Thanks!
Mike.
Answer
Um, I don't know about Cisco routers specifically, but there's probably a setting in there to allow telnet traffic through. If you have administrative access to the router, see if it's letting traffic through on port 23.
Answer
Ah. Port 23. I will ask her to check that when I get back in on Tuesday.
Thanks.
Anyone else have any Telnet info/tips?
Mike.
Answer
Cisco has an extensive set of information on their products available on their website. Here is the link to the router library.
Answer
Thank you for the link. I have passed to our IS mgr to see if they can use it to resolve various issues we have with our unit.
