Does it matter what if a site is hosted on a Linux or Mcrosoft Server?

Answer
Linux servers typically run Apache, which has fewer security holes than MS IIS.
Apache is also much easier to administer, if you propose to personally administer the server. It's the web server I run on my Linux box for playing around on my private subnet.

Answer
ditto!
Linux all the way... stay away from msiis (or anything else)

If I were use the hosting with Mocrosoft servers only for email, would I still have to worry about security problems?

Answer
Yes.. They are about the most insecure server software around.. If the hosting company isn't on the ball 100% you will have problems.. (sooner or later)
