Answer
I'm not a website designer but I've read from numerous sources that it's best to try to keep your page to 60KB or under.

Answer
Two different things to consider, the amount of HTML source code and total KB size.
HTML is important because Google only reads the first 101 KB of source code foa a page. So, if you have links or info beyond that point, it won't get read index. That means the portion of code beyond 101 KB will be ignored by Google, but it will still read and index the first 101 k. This number DOES NOT include any images.
Total page KB size is what matters to the visitor. Smaller sizes mean faster loading. This includes any images and the rest of source code.
You get the total page KB number by adding the source code and image sizes together.
You can see your HTML size in Windows explorer "detail" view.
You can also see your image sizes there.
I think probaly DW is giving you the combined total. IE properties is showing you the HTML source code size alone.
I used to try for a total KB size of 50k, but a few months ago I started loading new pages up to 100 k in TOTAL page size (KB) and haven't seen any down side.
But most of that is images. My source code rarely goes over 10 -15 kb.

Answer
There are no set rules for page size. These days with so many people on broadband many pages are much more graphics-oriented (Flash too) and thus larger than they used to be. Of course you need to consider people still on dial-up as well.
I'd say 95 KB is perfectly fine. As long as you're not needlessly overloading a page with uncompressed graphics don't worry too much about the total KB on the page.
Also, be sure to specify the image sizes in the html so any text on the page will load first without having to wait for the images.

Answer
Broadband? Flash?
Yeah, go ahead and ignore majority of internet users, you know those who are still on dial up. Who needs customers anyhow.
And be sure and load up the page with Flash crap. You really don't care if the page gets indexed well anyhow, right?
Hey, two or three minutes for a page to load gives ya time to use the bathroom, and everyone needs to do that ya know..
Building for broadband and using a lot, (read that as ANY) Flash is a sure recipe for commercial suicide unless you are marketing to trendy designers or twelve year olds.
Course that's all just my opinion.

One thing that's a real turnoff for me is a website that REQUIRES ActiveX in order to be viewed. IMO, this is the work of a lazy programmer and one who doesn't have a clue about the potential dangers involved with allowing ActiveX Controls to run on your computer. I realize that some folks like all of the fancy bells and whistles, Flash, etc. but it's a mistake to not at least offer an alternative page for those who have ActiveX disabled. (my reason for using the term "lazy") I will not enable ActiveX just to view a web page and I know there are other people who feel the same as I do.
Anyway, the ActiveX Control issue is probably going to be mute soon since Microsoft lost the Eolas lawsuit. Macromedia Flash and any other plug-in applications are definitely adversely affected by this ruling:
