Question
Good afternoon. I am surprised to find that I have not seen this topic come up yet.
It seems that eBay Keywords has ended a couple of days ago. Does anybody know what is supposed to happen to the money in your AdMarketplace account?
I will also contact eBay Live Help and post an answer here if I get one. Thank you, everyone!
Answer
Still there - under a new name. I recvd this email 2 weeks ago:
"As part of our switch from eBay Keywords to AMP Keywords, we updated the front page of www.ampkeywords.com -- our new home. Check it out."
Answer
Yessir! Here is what I have learned:
- eBay Live Help has no clue about this (they even told me that eBay Keywords was a stores-only feature, which it wasn't)
- eBay Help says eBay Keywords is discontinued
After speaking with another representative, here is what I have learned:
- Their original partnership is over
Finally, I was able to find the following web page that says:
Before, your ads were shown primarily in text boxes on eBay.com where they competed for attention on a page with many other listings.
In September, your ads began to be displayed outside of eBay where they have proven to be much more effective. Our reports have shown that this new ad inventory converts into bids or sales three (3) times more often than clicks from the old eBay text boxes.

In other words, eBay no longer offers keywords on their web site. From the look of things, eBay has replaced member ads with general ads from the Yahoo! Search Marketing (formerly Overture) network.
Though it has signed with Yahoo! Ads, eBay continues to do business with Google because eBay buys Google AdWords in Google search results. eBay also restricts others from using the word "eBay" in their Google Adwords ads.
Recently, Google has released its own Checkout system and Google Base item listing system. It is no wonder why eBay chose Yahoo! Ads instead of Google Ads. Yahoo! used to be a long-time competitor in the auctions field, but about a year ago, started showing eBay ads in its Yahoo! Mail client and even on the Yahoo! auctions pages, if I am not mistaken.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the future between these three companies. Just a year ago, Google was eBay's friend, and Yahoo! the enemy.
Answer
That's old news to me. I found all this out when my ad didn't show up in one of our auction events. I'm not renewing my ad, but do need to find out if my current funds are refundable. Anybody know?
Answer
Trish, - if you go to their "new" website and click on "sign in", it'll take you to your old page and it shows how much is left. I used all mine up so I don't know what happens if you had money left over.

I apologize if it is old news. The second Live Help representative I spoke with advised me to contact AdMarketplace directly.
I forgot to mention that I did fill out their generic contact form www.admarketplace.net to try to get a refund during the process I mentioned above.
We will have to wait and see what they say!
