Question
Okay, this is all to foriegn to me, but I have an auction that can have a digital item delivery, when in the syi form, it ask for a website url to download the digital item. My question is how do I create a digital item download? What program would I use? I have a website to use for. Thanks for any help.
Answer
Hi Trish:
I sell embroidery designs that I send via email and will also be selling them via download from a website.
Does ebay really have a place for a link for a digital download? Gee, I haven't looked at the syi form in ages.
You would need to use a zip program such as winzip to compress your file and the person downloading also needs to have a zip program to unzip your file. Most downloads of files online are in a zip format.
You would then upload the zip file to your website and give the customer the link to the file (all zip files become automatic download files) , or you can email the file to your customer as I do. You may want to make them use a password to access the file so they don't try to browse your site and see what else they can download.

Answer
Hi Jill,
I finally figured it all out last night by opening my adobe reader program. They have a free program to create up to 5 pdf files. So I did that, saved it to my hardrive, then created a secure pdf file through adobe, saved it to my hardrive again, then right clicked on it and converted to a zip folder, then uploaded it to my website as a clickable link. It now requires a login and a password to view the file. Works great!
The syi form offers the digital item delivery in this one catagory that I know of so far anyways and that would be the "Everything Else > Information Products > How-To Guides > Self Help" catagory.
Now I feel safer about knowing that paypal and ebay know that I sent the file for download after payment was completed, rather than just emailing the details to the buyer and hoping they don't try to say that they never received it.
Answer
I've tried offering one Digital Item through eBay recently, a PDF ebook. The eBay SYI form for digital items has a place to enter the access info that is shown to the buyer after PayPal payment.
I put the downloadable file in a password-protected directory on my website (my host makes it easy to do that with .htaccess).
Password-protecting the document itself is likely to annoy your customer, because they'll have to remember and enter the password every time they use the document.
Answer
Sign up for a free account at 50webs.com and upload your file to it... then just post the link, to your uploaded file, where it says "URL"
Answer
Khuram, is that spam for webhosting, or are you just trying to tell the OP that she needs to upload her PDF so it has a URL?
Hmm, is that even true? Does eBay allow digital item delivery by email?

selling items digitaly on ebay can be very profitable and it also is the easyest way to increase the ammount of feedback that you have on your account, all you need is a group of ebooks that sell well and killer descriptions to get an aditional 3- 10 extra feedback a day- i also sell a 1`cent ebook that is marketed directly to people who need more feedback its mostly people with one to ten feedback that buy it

By any chance did you use speyll check and graymer check on your ebook? While I'm sure it's a copy/pasted barrage of messages here spamming us-it would be in your best interests to make sure the message is spelled properly and that it contains at least basic grammar.

When you're just selling feedback, who cares about the spelling.

How can one sell anything on eBay for 1 cent without losing money?
I listed my eBook at $1.99. I thought about .99, but with PayPal getting .30 + whatever per transaction, and eBay fees, that wouldn't add up to much if I did sell anything.
Anyone have suggestions on pricing, other than our spammer?
