Question
For all of you that own and operate your own ecommerce website, are you using HackerSafe, Comodo HackerGuardian, or something similar?
I know that there is a pretty substantial difference in the price of HackerSafe and Comodo.
Does anyone currently use any of these services? and have you noticed any significant increase in traffic and more importantly conversion rates?
I've been thinking of implementing such a service, and to talk to the Sales Rep's they give you all kinds of pie charts that show increase in conversion, but what's the real life experience with these?
Can anyone comment?
Answer
I don't use any of those services.
99.9% of perusers/shoppers don't know what they mean/see/understand them anyways. (YMMV)
Answer
I would agree with Kathleen, for the most part that shoppers wouldn't know what it meant. I would rather become a member of the BBB Online and display their logo. At least "BBB" is pretty well recognized.
Cheers

All these services do little if anything to increase conversion rates and nothing to increase traffic as visitors only see the logo once they arrive onsite.
I did check a while ago into whether any fellow website gurus used them and the resounding answer was NO and that basically these services are parasites similar to those other well-known snake oil salesmen - anti-virus software companies. Both push their own "doom 'n' gloom" stories and outlook, but in reality it's the websites guru's responsibility to make a site secure and safe for visitors. Infact a few gurus advised that adding a HackerSafe logo was not only pointless but it could even make you a target for hackers trying to score points - "hEy dUde, I crAck3d this Hack3rSafe site"...
Answer
I use Hackersafe. Since I take credit cards I have to provide proof of the security scans and that I passed to credit card companies in order to meet PCI compliance. That is the only reason I have Hackersafe. IMO, that's the only reason merchants have it.
I only use their logo on the shopping cart. I think the logo is tacky. IMO, is does not increase sales.
I do know of a free service that provides the scanning to do on your own. I haven't tried it yet. I will try it when I have the time because setting it up is very labor intensive. Here's the link:http://www.nessus.org/
