Question
I'm working on several magazine article projects for print, and I'd like to see if anyone is interested in being the subject of a feature interview. I'm doing feature articles on people who are successful in their online endeavors. When I say successful, I don't mean Fortune 500 bs. You don't need to be a millionaire or a Pesa member to qualify as successful. In fact, I'd rather not interview Pesa members for this project. You just need to be making a living at your online sales (or, as long as the online sales generate at least 70% of your income).
What I need are people who would enjoy being the subject of an article entirely about them--about how they succeed, what they've done to get there, etc.
The cool thing for you guys is, it will be free advertising, and you can tout that you were interviewed and/or featured in a print publication. We'll be able to advertise your eBay store / online store / or whatever your main venues are. Hopefully it will generate a bunch of interest for your items.
Here's the type of people I'm hoping to interview.
I need:
--a seller or sellers who are successful at selling their original artwork or handcrafted items online.
--a seller or sellers who are selling a niche collectible successfully online.
--a successful female business owner (selling anything)
--a seller or sellers who are offering creative products that aren't quite like anything else on the market. Gimmicky is OK.
--a successful seller or sellers doing large volume sales (large volume meaning more than 100 sales per month, in this case).
--a successful seller who makes more than $50,000 a year selling online.
If anyone is interested, go ahead and ask me questions here--or via private message.
This is a quick and easy process. I have a series of questions to ask you, that can be answered via email or even via pm. If the abstracts are chosen, I'll probably also need a screencap of your website or eBay store (or whatever venue you choose to promote), and/or a pic of you and/or just your products. You don't need to use a pic of yourself if you don't want to. Also, the article will NOT give your personal phone number, mailing address, or anything else that you don't wish to give out (just your online sales venues locations). We can include those things, if you think they would help generate phone sales or visits to your physical shop, etc.
The print publications are pretty good ones, too. Several mainstream craft and art magazines, home business magazines, and general business mags.
Answer
I'd love to, but I'm leaving (again!) for vacation Friday, and won't be back until the 20th-ish. Are you in a rush and/or would I qualify?
--a seller or sellers who are successful at selling their original artwork or handcrafted items online. Yes.
--a seller or sellers who are selling a niche collectible successfully online. Yes.
--a successful female business owner (selling anything) Yes.
--a seller or sellers who are offering creative products that aren't quite like anything else on the market. Gimmicky is OK. Made individually, not mass-produced? Yes.
--a successful seller or sellers doing large volume sales (large volume meaning more than 100 sales per month, in this case). Not yet.
--a successful seller who makes more than $50,000 a year selling online. Not yet.
Answer
Kathleen. Yes, yes, yes! :-) That works. And actually, to clarify, all you have to be able to do is answer yes to one of the things on the list. I think I may have confused some people out there. If you match any one of the bullet points, I can do an interview on you.
Sounds good. And no, there is no rush. Articles take time to go through the cogs, anyway. Can I look at the links in your sigs? Are they links to some of your handcrafted items?

Answer
I nominate "imosh (sp?)", also packie. Both are interesting subjects.
Answer
I don't know if I am successful or not but wanted to say neato to you on writing the articles.
I didn't know you were a writer!
I feel like I have made a success out of my little biz even though I am not rolling in the dough.
I have been blessed with a lot of great customers and when I look through my customer files I have to smile.
I cannot believe how many logos I have created over the last 5-6 years. Each one is a memory that I wouldn't give up for anything.
Well okay - so there might be one or two that I could have lived without.
hehehe
Answer
I'm a female selling antiques & collectibles. If I qualify, I'd be happy to answer questions.

Hi guys! Sorry for the brief delay.
Hey, Imosh would make a cool article, but haven't seen him in a long time?
Flutterbees--sorry about the PM box being full. I never thought to check it (smart, huh?).
Tanya, joflora, Kathleen, and I assume flutterbees :-) --I'll be happy to use you guys.
And Tanya, yes! I am, actually. I was a professional writer / editor for 9 years before walking away from it all to start my own online business selling role playing game supplies and anime stuff. The online biz flopped, as some of you already know. The ebay end dried up about the time our website really caught on--and our website was super busy. Lots of orders, but low dollar amounts. We couldn't make enough money at it to hire help--but we couldn't handle the load on our own, so we shut it all down. I'm still selling the last of our stock on ebay again (ironically, it's selling on auction again).
So--yes. I went back into my old career after closing the business. Wish I had done it sooner, too.
I also do artwork, jewelry, block printing, and sculpture. LOL.

Would you believe I had PMs from 2004 still in there? I cleaned it out. LOL.
