Question
My friend wants to open a small web-shopping kiosk in her store. However, she wants to be able to pick and choose the sites that shoppers can browse. (She sells clothing and wants to just have links to clothing affiliate sites.) She also doesn't want the kiosk to become and Internet Cafe type of thing. Does anyone know how to do this? She asked me and I haven't a clue, though I'm sure it can be done, so of course, first place I come is to here to ask for help!
Answer
If the sites are all owned by your friend, the solution is simple - duplicate/copy the website to the computer's hard drive and don't have the computer connected to the internet. Then, create shortcut icons on the desktop screen which lead to the location of the files on the hard drive. To browse, a customer would simply click on an icon. This would load the browser and the locally stored web page. This would allow the customer to at least browse and select what they wish to buy although it wouldn't allow them to complete the purchase online.
Answer
I think what he means is that his friend is an affiliate with some sites-where she earns a percentage of the total bought and/or a paid per click type thing.
I know there is a way to do it-I've browsed a couple like that at the mall but have no idea how to do it.
Answer
Mommy dearest - Shanne is a she! Shane is a he!
And thanks to Irene and yourself for responding!!!!
And yes, you are right.
My friend is an affiliate with several clothing & jewelry sellers. She is adding the kiosk because she wants to keep her customers 'satisfied.' If they don't find something in her store, she wants to offer them the opportunity to purchase something online from various storefront affiliate websites she has set up, and yes, complete the sale online if they are so inclined. I think the concept is brilliant. But it only works if you can direct the customers to affiliate site, as at least the store owner will get a commission if they don't get a sale from their B&M storefront., At least, that's the concept! But you need to prevent them from going all over the internet, or you defeat your purpose. At least that is how I understand it. So she needs to have only her affiliate stores available for viewing from the instore kiosk locations. If that makes any sense.
Answer

So....now that we have the gender thing sorted out - are we progressing on the browser thingy or what?
p.s. I understand the gender confusing thing - Shanne is not my real name - it was the name of a friend of mine from long ago. I named my horse after her. Shanne was a lovely beastie - but she did have her quirks - sorta like me!
And for reasons known only to the powers that be, when I first registered here I decided that it was a good name to use on this board - or so it seemed at the time, since the only other name that struck my fancy when I was signing up here - not knowing, of course what I was doing and trying at the same time to disguise myself so that no one would know that it was really me, myself inlcuded - was Beulah Mae.

Here is a partial answer. My son (my computer whiz) says it can be done by setting up the wanted ip addresses and blocking all other ip addresses in the router. If she is going to have more than one computer set up for this she will need a router anyway. He assures me it is easy to do.
