Java Script changing images in code question

Question
Hi
I downloaded a java script for a game similar to simple Simon.
I had to upload a purple and yellow image.
The game works fine.
Then I had this idea to change the purple and yellow to match my project.
I made two new different color images, same size as the purple and yellow.
In the code, I exchanged the purple and yellow for the new image colors.
It didn't work. I just got the red x's
Then I had this idea maybe I could keep the purple.gif and yellow.gif in the coding and rename my two new colors purple.gif and yellow.gif. Uploaded the newly name colors and it didn't work.
I wonder why? Can't I just swap the "images"? Or if they had the same name, upload the new ones and replace the old ones?
I hope that made sense?

Answer
Wish I could help, but the only two things I can do with Java are CUT/PASTE and drink it!

Cheers

Answer

Well I played around with it, screwed it up.
I finally got it back to working.
Gonna leave well enough alone!
