Question
Last month my domain was expiring.
I never used it. Couldn't figure out how to use 1&1.
Canceled the account. Received a verification email.
I had a choice to let the domain expire or transfer.
Selected expire but then transfered before it expired.
Today I get a nasty email from 1&1 saying I owe them $18.95
For what? I logged into 1&1 (funny I can still do that since
I received a cancel verification notice) and checked the current
and past invoice. It shows the domain renewal.
Emailed them
Should be interesting to see what they say.
Answer
OK
Got them on the phone.
I have to eat crow.
I read the letter wrong.
Answer
I signed up for two accounts and never touched them. Do we need to cancel? Are we going to be charged if we don't? I just tried to logon and i can's get in using the customer id from an old email from them? I can't call them because I can't log in. Do you have the technical assisatance phone number so I could try to call tonight?
Answer
Never could figure out how to use it.

Go above to cancel. You will need your id to log in.
If you don't remember it maybe you can call billing?
They don't make it easy. I had to hunt for it. You have to email them
then fax a signed copy of a print out.
I had heard it was a pita so I decided to do it way ahead of time.
As far as billing I don't know. If they have your credit card on file they just might.
I had an expired card on file. I figured since it was expired they wouldn't renew my domain name but they renewed it, then billed me.
Here's part of the letter they sent me when I inquired about canceling my account.
We have received your cancellation request of 10/19/2005.
To complete this, we must first receive your signed confirmation form.
Please print out, sign, and send or fax the form to us in the next seven
days. No fax is needed to cancel a domain that has not been registered
yet.
If we do not receive your signed confirmation form in the next 7 days your
cancellation request will not be processed and your account will remain
active.
This form can be found at https://cancel.1and1.com. Login in and then
click on 'Status/Undo' in the left navigation bar. In the summary table
locate the 'Confirmation Form' link next to the Contract ID. Click on
this link and then on 'Print'.
Signed forms received by fax will be processed within 48 hours. You will
then receive an e-mail confirming that the cancellation is complete.
If you do not receive an e-mail within 48 hours then your order has not
been processed. Please resend the fax to ensure your cancellation request
will be processed correctly.
Answer
I don't think I registered a domain, just the website thing and only for the free pics but never used it.
Answer
I have one and my husband has one and we love them. They are doing a really good job and have recently updated their control panel. They do things a little differently but I love a little challenge. Will renew with them when the time comes.
