Web domain expiring question

Question
Hi
I have a web domain that is going to expire in about 10 days or so.
I was thinking of transferring the domain.
Can it still be done?
Seems to me I read somewhere that it had to be done within so
many days of it expiring but I can't find the info.

Answer
You can switch the domain register at any time.
Check with your current register to see how much 'lead time' they need before (assuming you have automatic billing) they bill your credit card.
It takes about 10 days (sometimes less, sometimes more) to actually make the change (on the register's side). Mine's done it in less than 48 hours.

Answer
I had my domain name registered through my isp.
It's still currently hosted by my isp dial up service.
But when the domain name had to be renewed this last time,
I went through godaddy.com and did it there. I even had one of
their technical people on the phone because I had some questions.
A very pleasant experience. And very economical compared to what
my isp wanted.
At some point it time, I may move my domain pages to godaddy
and do what I have to do. In the meanwhile, I been a bit busy.

Answer
Godaddy has all 5 of my websites and have been great. Customer service is outstanding.
