Question
I'm back to working wtih Mal's shopping cart. I don't have much choice and I think it will work if I can just figure it out.
If anyone who knows how this works can go to www.strummersmusic.com
I now have Paypal gone and the other stuff in place. However, it's definitely not working.
The View Cart is missing something, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
You can add a quantity on the catalog page, but when you click buy now, nothing happens. The link is there, but it's not going anywhere.
I have to run out, but will focus on this when I get back. I can't leave the site like this for long. I still have my Paypal page saved and can re-upload if I need to.
I appreciate any help. I posted a request on Mal's forum, but haven't received a reply yet. (I posted yesterday and it doesn't seem to be really busy over there)
Thanks!
Gina
Answer
1. Have you logged into ADMIN and set up your shopping cart defaults?
2. Are you using the CORRECT aitsafe URL? You are currently using "ww3".
I tried to (fake) purchase one of your items, and you're correct, once an item is chosen, it goes no where.
BTW, you are aware that you can STILL use PayPal WITH the Mals cart, aren't you?
Answer
Thanks kathleen! I've *almost* got it. I did have the wrong number in the link. I also thought I had set everything up, but apparently I got started and didn't finish.
Now my problem is the way it calls the info from my database. I hope I can get this figured out. I have 2.5 hours left
Thanks for your help!

Answer
I don't use a database for any of my sites, but perhaps this tutorial may help: http://www.nortac.com/mals/phpmysql.htm
Hopefully ^ will help.
For database useage, I'm of no help.
Sorry.

welcome to mals!
we love it, pretty simple to use, but you have to get use to it first.

I'm just about to start giving it a go - I just signed up, hope I can figure it out
Answer
I thought I had it, but it didn't work. I'm sure if I wasn't dealing with a database, I would have it working. By the time I do get it working, I'll know it inside and out
I have read the tutorial mentioned until I almost have it memorized. I feel like I'm just missing something.
I'll keep going over it, it's got to click somehow.
I did get an answer over at Mal's (that's for sending me back there, imosh). I'll have to see if I can figure out 'remote call'
Thanks for the help, I'm closer than I was. If anyone else wants to give me any help, that would be great
Good luck dhm I hope it goes better for you. I can see the value in this, I'm just not *there* yet.
Answer
Well I've spent about 8 hours with it so far and I can't figure it out. I must be incredibly dense.
Answer
I have no clue how many hours I spent trying to figure this thing out. I have the basic thing done, but now I'm trying to work on the shipping aspect and my payment gateway isn't quite right.
After I figured out a step, I could look back and see that it was easy. BUT, when you don't have a frame of reference to start from when learning something COMPLETELY new it's VERY difficult.
I did this alot! over this shopping cart. I can see how it will be a benefit to me now though.
Hang in there. I'm not sure how much I can help, but I'll try. Where is it you're stuck and what have you done so far? Do you have a dynamic or static site?
Gina
Answer
Thanks for your kind offer to help....but I'm so clueless I don't even know how to describe where I had problems. All I can say is that I tried to create a cart, pasted the code into a page of my site and it corrupted the whole dern page. Now I can't edit it or do anything else with it so I have to rebuild the whole page. Fortunately I hadn't yet uploaded the change so what's on the net still works. But I can't edit/revise anything on that particular page.
I'm also so clueless that I wouldn't know the difference between a static and a dynamic site, so I couldn't begin to tell you which one I have.
So I guess I'm outta luck.
Thanks anyway!
