Question
I'm at no loss for words when it comes to adding content to my website/forums.
I'm getting a modest number of daily viewers across all my sites.
I don't expect miracles, but I'm not certain how long it takes on average to get some community participation.
Right now I have my blogs and forum set up so that only registered users can participate. Would it be better to change it so that anyone can post?
Answer
Here's my personal take on this matter.
Most people will not 'register' to post at a blog - or anywhere else for that matter! (think: SPAM)
However, leaving a blog 'wide open' also opens it up to folks (with both good & bad intentions) to 'post at will'. (double-edge sword)
Answer
Good point, Kathleen, especially about the blogs.
I have had a recent bout of comment spam on my blogs, so I enabled the word verification feature. One still snuck through today, but overall it has put a stop to that.
I suppose I could set my blogs to allow anyone to post, since I can delete posts that might be profane or something.
Since my forum isn't getting much activity, I might try it there also and if it gets to be a problem I could handle it the same way.
Thanks for your input!
