Question
I've created a personal website years ago with geocities, but you didn't need to know html. I don't even have a clue how to use html.
I sell Harry Potter trading cards. It gets pretty expensive to sell them on ebay because you have to keep relisting over and over until a buyer comes along. So I'm wanting to do a website, but don't know how to do html. It looks way complicated. But I don't have hundreds of dollars to pay someone else to do it either, so I gotta do it myself.
I know how to create the webpages, but don't know how to add html, links, etc to the pages to make the cards go into carts and such. I'll be using a paypal shopping cart when I get it done.
I do have a domain already, but no webhost. Just a domain and a paypal account.
Thanks.

Also - there are a bunch of useful threads (older ones) in this forum that go over all the basics, so try a search of this forum or just go back to some of the earlier pages ... That should get you started ....

If you don't want to take the time to learn HTML (and there's MANY that don't), why not look for a webhost that offers a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor combined with their hosting?
Time IS $$$, but I personally can't understand why one would pay someone else to "do" and "maintain" one's site. (But I'm CHEAP! )
Answer
A lot of webhosts have premade templates.
I use Front Page 2003, which tremendously helps in learning and understand some HTML (I often do things backwards).
You can buy an inexpensive book on HTML.
Answer
it'd be easier, maybe, than an independent website. There is a lot of competition for Harry Potter stuff.
That's one reason I've never done an independent website for my Pokemon cards, and prefer to use my eBay store to handle them.

If you decide to learn HTML, I highly recommend WebTech University. I took all their HTML-related courses (other courses are about PSP) and am very pleased.
WebTech U's online courses are free, and you'll have a tutor, so you can ask questions when you need help.
HTML really isn't difficult.
Answer
but if time is of the essence, I always suggest Go Daddy as the webhost and to use their premade website templates. Prices are reasonable and I have never had an outage on my site.
Another great site to learn any web technology is http://www.webmonkey.com - they have a nice HTML cheat sheet. I have taught HTML and DHTML for years and I really like that site.
I NEVER recommend FrontPage. Microsoft throws in a bunch of errant code that bogs things down...much better to use Homesite or Dreamweaver. There are free HTML programs that good, as well.
Hope this helps.
