1. Its FREE http://www.blogger.com/start
2. Blogger has large selection of fill in the blanks templates.
3. It can be part of your website or stand alone.
4. Yahoo loves blogs in their search results.
5. You can create bunches of links or anchor text links back to your website or your friends.
6. Blogger also will store your pictures, again FREE
7. You can drive traffic to your website or Heaven forbid your Ebay store.
8. If you are not a fraidy cat you can put in meta tags just like a website.
9. The templates are not carved in stone so you can change it to your hearts content.
10. You can use Google Adsense ads or any affiliate you deal with.

Yea, some are built in (blogger), but other sites (Xanga) it's part of the premium package.

I actually have two blogs, but I don't post to them.
Failure to post could be a reason not to have a blog.

Your missing out on a good advertising medium by not bloging. I post every few days to my blog about new items added to my shops and some assorted ramblings.Country Joe's Blog Yahoo seems to pick them up every week and google also visits.

I post to my Blog, about once or twice a week. Then I ping it to the different Blog Directories.
Since my blog is about jewelry and gemstones, I write about those types of things. All about a gemstone, tips for taking care of your gems, etc.
Then I create links back to the merchandise in my store. It's a great way to advertise your merchandise, and provide folks with information about gemstones and jewelry.
Also, I exchange Blog Links with folks who are willing. It's a great way to create a Blog community, and help others advertise their business.
