I've been researching Marketing and Advertising for the last 2 weeks, and have joined some Forums.
I picked websites that interest me, then post a comment, or tips, or a question. I only visit sites that allow me to post my online store URL in my siggy. Some allow my Avatar also.
So I was wondering, what Forums do you visit to ADVERTISE your Store URL?

I believe I would put a link to .net site. I don't think links to a secure site help because I don't think search engines will index secure sites. Plus you have 2 identical websites which may bring you a dupe content penalty.

I don't visit any sites just to advertise. I participate in several online selling discussion forums. I put online sales links in my sigs on those sites.
I visit other forums on completely different topics, with different ID, don't mention sales links on them.

Welcome to here and the Website Marketing & Advertising forum.
Great question, and some great feedback so far as well ....
I agree, I personally don't and wouldn't recommend joining or posting to a group / forum / etc JUST to advertise my site, but instead look for sites and boards that are devoted to subjects & topics that I am interested in or that pertain to my website's focus. For me, stay-at-home mom boards and art-related sites are a good choice, in addition to the general "online auction sales" arenas.
My biggest tip: Definitely follow all the rules for linking and advertising no matter what site you are planning to partipate in, and DO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE!, not just show up to plug your stuff.
Hope you find a unique niche site for yourself that you can get some great advertising from!

*one more thing, I would actually recommend shortening the "titles" on your links here, my eyes glaze over after about 3 words and I dont read the rest. Just your site name or a SHORT description would be a better attention getter, I think ... But understand this advice is from someone with a fruit fly attention span

I don't visit forums just to advertise, either.
The forums I visit, I also participate in. I only pick forums that I really enjoy. Plus, I always try to help those I can, with advice or information. Also, I read the Rules before I join a forum, and I follow he rules.
I don't talk about my store, or try to advertise per se, except in my signature.
That's what I meant by advertising my store. Sorry, if I wasn't more clear about that in my earlier post.
Yes, it is hard to get search engines to visit my store on it's secure server, and that's why I have a portal into my store from a non-secure server.
When I exchange Store Links with folks, I use the domain name on the non-secure server. It seems to help. My store is with Hostway.com and the software to create and manage my store, is on a secure server, so there's not much I can do about that. It just means I have to work a little harder to get my website out there and noticed.

Personaly i advertize everywhere selling items digitaly on ebay can be very profitable and it also is the easyest way to increase the ammount of feedback that you have on your account, all you need is a group of ebooks that sell well and killer descriptions to get an aditional 3- 10 extra feedback a day- i also sell a 1`cent ebook that is marketed directly to people who need more feedback its mostly people with one to ten feedback that buy it
