site critique my store has been liv efor 2 mo

Question
Hi I'm looking for a site critique.
My main pages are not up yet but my home page is and my store has been live for about 2 months now.
my pr is 2 and I get about 10
visitors a day.
I know I need to work on my meta tags on my home page I have filled out most of my meta tags for my store.
I plan on having a links page an events page and some product info pages as well.
I have about 200 items in my store currently and need to figure out what else to do to get more viewers and turn those viewers into buyers.
I have had aprox 800 people look and 8 cart starts and no completed sales.
If you need any more info just let me know

Answer
I went and looked a little...
Thought the site was attractive and acceptably laid out, but
Kinda hard to see that little "Enter the Store" link..

But what really would have kept me from ordering anything is that PERSONAL INFO Page I have to fill out to order something.
Why must I become a "member" of the store? And provide mailing, shipping, email, website, fax, phone and all that?
All I want to do is buy the darned item!!!!!!!

(Actually, as a seller I understand the page. But as a BUYER... I would have backed out and you would have lost a sale.)

Something to consider.....

Answer
Love the website. Looks very professional.
In Firefox, there's no link to enter the store, and the top left picture is missing. It's there in IE. Maybe a code error tht FireFox can't recover from?
I agree that it asks for a lot of information on the checkout page, but I only fill out the * (required) things anyway, so it doesn't bother me. I'd just skip all the extras. Nice, though, that you have a place to sign up for the newsletter/mailing list right on the checkout page.
Some things about the products:
Some of the pictures are dark and/or fuzzy. Some of them are fine.
The small pic at the top of the detail page....can you make it a clickable link to the larger pic at the bottom of the page?
Not enough detail: How are the fabric products hemmed? What kind of findings do you use on the jewelry? The smallest detail can make (or break) a sale.
I like the dressmaker's dummy instead of a plastic manny...looks more polished. Great idea showing pics of how to wear the scarves, too.
No opinion on the color scheme. It doesn't thrill me, but it doesn't offend me either. With different kinds of viewers, unoffensive isn't a bad thing.
I got a little mental "hmmmmm..." when the Shopping Cart total shown in the box (right-hand side of the page) was more than what I'd put in the cart, but once I got to Checkout and figured out that you'd already added the shipping, I was ok. Might give some people an uneasy moment, though.
I also found a few dead links, and I'm not sure what the "News and Events" box is on the right, the "Home" link takes you to the front page of the store, not the website (there's no way to get back to the front page that I could find?) but I figure you're still working, right?
I'm impressed that you made a Help section. I like the way it's laid out.
Overall, if I could see/read more detail about the products, I'd buy.

Answer
Thanks so much for the info
A new pair of eyes really helps.
I'd love to hear more

I have re worked a few of those fields
I am a bit confused though.
you don't have to become a member at all and if I don't have mailing and shipping info how do I mail my customers their orders?
and the same for email If I have a question or there is a delay in shipping or a gremlin steals or breaks an item how do I let customers know?
I do agree about fax and url that is not needed

Answer
Just a few things I noticed.
#1-"When do you ship?
We ship with in 48 hours during the week. Please look at our (put link to company policy here)" You might want to actually PUT the link to the company policy there!
#2-Font/size changes on the home page. In my personal opinion, too many. Pick one font/size for the entire page. Use bold/italics or color to emphasize things you want noticed.
#3 - "Rate this item". Well, I guess you'd get some feedback on what you're offering, but I think it's unnecessary and clutters up the item page.
Hope that helps.
