Is Formail what I want? If so how do I do it???

Question
I'm trying to build a brand new website that's completely different from my current one. One of the things I'd like to do (I think) is put some kind of a form thingy on a "contact us" page - you know, the kind of form where they fill in their name and whatever other info you're trying to get, or sign up for a newsletter, etc, and then you get an email with the info they've supplied.
Is it Formmail that I want to use? How do I do it, lol
Not to sound too dense, but I am

I'm trying to find something that's free, although if I end up having to pay I'll check it out
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Answer
I'm trying to find something that's free, There are actually a couple of "free" scripts out there. Problem with them is that they often require some customization.
Go to http://www.hotscripts.com and input "mailing lists" into the search bar.
Some cost $$ and some are open source (free), if your not afraid of the script language, you could really make some pretty cool modifications to a freebie.

Not to sound too dense, but I am Formail does that to me, too. It's not the easiest thing to set up. I don't have any other suggestions for you, though. I normally just put an email link on the page and let them write.

That's a thought too. And if Formail is tough for YOU, I don't think I have a chance!

Answer
Two suggestions!
Check your current webhost's list of functions and services. They may already offer a free formmail script that you can add to any of your pages. A lot of web hosts offer formmail--so make sure you check your host first (free is good!).
If they don't you can also try: http://www.response-o-matic.com
They have been around for years (I used to use them when I had a web host that did not offer formmail). It's totally free, and they'll process your formmail (and give you a generated template).
