'Nuther website ? How do you make a button expand?

Question
I guess that is what it's called.
On the new site I'm working on, I would like to click on the "Labels" button and it expand(?) out to give you the different label choices (ex: Dogs, Patriotic, Cats, etc.). Then you could click on the one you want and go directly to that page instead of having to go to the main Label page first.
Can I even do this with the style of buttons I'm using?
As always...Thanks so much for any and all help!!

Answer
NotMe, I think you might be asking the same question I am asking. Will you read my post called Directory Tree and see if you think you and I are both after the same thing?

Answer
puzzlegoddess - it sounds like we may be talking about the same thing.

Answer
I think it is javascript, which makes me run screaming and crying into the next room.
Unless someone knows some nice software I can plug my data into that will make all the cute buttons for me?

Answer
Look through the scripts at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/index.html
Not Me, I think you're looking for something like this:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...switchmenu.htm
or
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/navigate1.htm
PG, the closest thing I could find for what you want is this:
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/navigate2.htm
I know exactly what you're talking about, but I don't see a script that does exactly that.

Answer
Thank you, Jayne, for trying to help me. It's too complicated for me to try to manipulate. I would need about 7 or 8 subcategories, with subcategories under those, etc. In order for me to be able to manipulate his code into doing that, I would have to learn javascript so intensely...I just don't think I can!
What I need is javascript for dummies, I guess. Or a program that will do this all for me...

Answer
PG, there are software packages that will create the menus for you. You fill out a form and it generates the code that you paste into the web page. Depending on what you want, the prices are as low as $20.
Edited to add....
Here's a program that has a free version and a paid version. The paid version is $30.

Here's one that looks pretty good and it's free:

Caution: When you're downloading free stuff, scan for viruses first and watch out for spyware.

Answer
Thanks, Jayne, again! I have dloaded emenutree, scanned it and it's clean and I am about to install and play with it for a bit. I'll let you know how it works...

Answer
Hey PG - Let me know too! I'm having a helluva time with this stuff.
I tried one and it fubarbed my table, so I tried another one and I keep getting a script error. <pulling hair out smilie>

Answer
It does not work. It looks like it is going to let you set up a massive hierarchy, just like you want, but then it won't let you look at it in the browser. Haro and I are tired of this, now, and we are going to go pound sand.
