Better Opening Page? Intro Page or Store Page?

Question
We're trying to figure which is better to welcome visitors to our website. Our Babysoup Welcome Page or just going directly to Babysoup Store Page ?
Thanks in advance!
Kallie

Answer
I think most folks like to go directly to the "meat & taters".
I have never saw the need for a welcome page unless you are linking from a site that has a two click rule.

Answer
If I'm shopping, then #2.
BTW, I'm getting up there in years, and my eyes aren't the best anymore, but I noticed that the 'names or designers' which are overlayed on the green ribbons, I can barely distinguish what they say. I don't know if it's the size of the font, or the italics, or a combination - but I can't read'm. But I'm sure I'm only one of millions who will visit your site.

Answer
I like your site. I think it is pretty and cute. I think just the store page is plenty good. The only thing I don't like is that moving type. I guess I am old like Kathleen.
Kathleen, I think the lettering you see is their owhatisthatword -the thingie for across the pic so you won't steal them -watermark?

Answer
Thanks Gals! The writing on the pictures is the watermark and it just says Baby Soup, 2005. Had some problems with people stealing my pics from my ebay listings.
I need to study up on eBay's linking policy so that I know what is allowed.
Thanks again for your help!

Hey Tanya!

Answer
You need to fix your meta tags unless you are selling shopping carts.

Answer
Have your viewers go directly to the store page.
Put the info on the Welcome Page in a box over to one side (edit it down some) or put an About Us link beside your Contact link. That way the people who want to know who you are can look. The people who want to get straight to shopping can do that. JMO.
With a name like Babysoup, I'd put some cute baby pics out there. Incorporate them into the site logo, or put a snapshot of the babies in your family on the About Us page. The name just screams "Let me see the cute babies."

Answer
Kallie, he's talking about this part of the source code:
HTML Code: <meta name="description" content="The powerful shopping cart software for web stores and e-commerce enabled webstores is based on PHP / PHP4 with SQL database (MySQL, PostGres) with highly configurable implementation base on templates."> <meta name="keywords" content="x-cart, xcart, cart, shopping cart, php, php4, mysql, postgres, shop, e-commerce, store, web store, gift certificates, wish list, top sellers"> Change it to reflect how you want the search engines to classify your page.

Answer
Thanks y'all. Sharon got everything updated and we're pretty pleased with the site.
.... Now onto spending some money to advertise...
