Question
Hi all
PrestoStore
I found this while browsing the AuctionSage boards and it looks VERY promising! For $1 you can use it for 30 days (and you get to use ALL of the features) and then it's just $19.95 per month......there is no limit on the amount of items you can have listed, it has a shopping cart that supports all payments including Paypal (without having to enter in Paypal coding for each item you are selling), there are NO setup fees.....here's some info from their website (and I am not affiliated in any way with them, just VERY interested in what they have to offer and wanted to share):
PrestoStore includes all of our features at no extra cost:
Reliable online hosting of your searchable store and storefront pages. Includes hosting of all logos, graphics and product images.
Link to your existing web site or publish to a domain name (www.yourbusiness.com) to "stand alone" as your web site.
Secure shopping cart, order processing and data storage.
Supports several payment options to offer your customers: credit card, electronic (ACH) check, PayPal, check or money order.
Supports several credit card payment gateways.
No limits on the number of products you offer, transactions processed or modifications you make. PrestoStore does not have any revenue sharing fees of any kind.
Secure access to your order information online. Securely download your data to an electronic file at anytime.
Customize the look of your store by uploading your company logo, using different fonts, adding matching colors.
Include multiple images of your products (small and large) and descriptions.
System can recommend related offerings to your customers based on their buying habits.
Fully customizable thank you (order accepted) message.
Add information links at the bottom of each store page to define your policies.
Add shipping and handling fees defined by product, order total or customer-selected delivery method.
Automatically calculate UPS or USPS shipping charges based on product weight and shipping destination.
Add multiple sales tax fees based on delivery location.
Create and apply an unlimited number of promotion discount codes.
Capture additional fields of text at checkout time based on products ordered ("Size", "How did you learn about us?", etc.)
Quantity remaining feature keeps an accurate (and optionally public) count of your inventory.
This looks almost too good to be true (trying not to be the skeptic here but you know how that goes), can anyone find anything WRONG with it or any reason for me NOT to give it a try?
Thanks in advance for your opinions!
Answer
If you want to use them to process credit card orders, you must have their merchant account:
Additional PrestoCart Fees:
$99 one-time merchant account integration fee
$20 monthly PrestoTerminal with Internet Gateway fee (includes up to 100 transactions per month; $0.15 each additional)
Your new merchant account will come fully integrated with our PrestoTerminal with Internet Gateway service. PrestoTerminal is a powerful online credit card terminal, allowing you to run additional credit card transactions and returns from any Internet connection. PrestoTerminal service includes a PrestoCart-compatible Internet payment gateway, so all your PrestoCart order forms will charge (or reject) your customer’s credit cards online in real-time.
Merchant Account Fees:
$10 monthly detailed statement fee
Discount rate: 2.22% + $0.25 per transaction for MasterCard and Visa
(American Express and Discover processing also available)
You will be required to complete an online merchant account application containing full merchant account terms and details. The above fees are for an "E-Commerce/Internet" merchant account ("Card Not Present"): this is the type of merchant account and fee structure REQUIRED to conduct business over the Internet.

But you could avoid those fees by using Paypal for your credit card processing no?
Answer
True, but since you can use Paypal with them there's no need to have a merchant account.......
Answer
Just bumpin' this up.......does anyone have an opinion on it?
Answer
Would you not do better with Price Wise Hosting? They offer free merchant accounts, shopping cart, templates etc. - everything you need to get started. Price for maximum features plan is $7.95 a month.

Hmmmmm......interesting but it looks confusing to me. One thing I like about PrestoStore is that it is EXTREMELY easy to build the site and add products to your site, this one looks a little hard to figure out
Answer
You are not alone, it looks confusing to me too. If I was going to open an online store, I'd use Prestostore. I have no idea how to update scripts and use php, cgi and all that other stuff. It's only $1 to try, see how you like it.
The other day on the eBay stores board, I read that a couple of sellers opened a Prestostore and said it was very easy to use. I did a search and found this for Prestostores on the eBay forums:

I was thinking prestostore too until I saw the link above. It does look a bit harder at first. If you clink on the "sitestudio" link you can make a sample store, it seems pretty easy....now I don't know which I want.
Answer
I'm messing around in the SiteStudio now but can't find a shopping cart
