Is a website the answer?

Question
My website is up and what a pitiful creature it is. It is up to me to improve it and it is a project I look forward to since I know I'll not have to do it all over again because of some glitch that ebay as a supplier will not even admit exists, or who blames it on me. EVERY time I log onto my website it is there and functions as perfectly as I have so far instructed it to do. It needs a lot of work, but it is going to need work for the rest of my life. It needs vast improvement, but it doesn't need to be fixed because some faceless ebay employee 3000 miles away decided to change the rules suddenly so now it is broken. Is your own website an answer to ebay problems? Maybe. Maybe not. It's a start.
A website is an ongoing project. It's like artwork: it never looks as good to you as it does to the general public. But it's YOUR website, not built on a platform that belongs to someone else. It's fully portable. You can move it when and if you wish. You are in control. You have the power to make or break your own business.
Ebay is a great resource. No doubt about that. But you can't put your eggs in someone else's basket and expect to have a viable, long-term business solution.

We all need to have a few more baskets of our own, not eBay's!
