Question
I signed up for them earlier this year, got some items listed but got busy.
Just made my first purchase there - because I can't resist cute bear cross stitch kits *grin*
Totally free - basically uses the Paypal shopping cart to provide a website-like experience.

Hey Katiyana, I've been eyeing up Blujay but I'm not sure what to think. I monitor the sites Listing count at Powersellersunite, but for some reason it seems to flatline. I don't know why, maybe it's because it automatically relists items no matter what, but still, there appeasr to be no real increase either.
I've heard a lot of great things about the site, but not about sales. There is a lot of great discussion at PSU about alternative sites. I don't mean to spam for them or anything, but just the other day I saw discussion on Blujay there and I think it might help you to check it out. Blujay has it's own subforum at PSU so all the topics are lumped together for you.
Please keep us posted on any good/bad news that comes of Blujay.
Answer
Roundabout: I use Blujay and love it. In fact, I'm doing better there than I ever did on eBay.
However, you do have to approach Blujay with a different mindset. It is NOT an eBay wannabe or clone. It's a classified ads site with a storefront attached.
Classified ads site work primarily on the basis of lead generation. If you list your items properly on Blujay and promote your webstore there as part of your overall marketing program, you will do very well. If you just list your stuff there and expect Blujay to act like eBay, you won't do well at all.
I posted some 'discoveries' about naming your store and optimizing your Blujay listings at the bottom of this thread (that I unintentionally derailed) in a discussion with Cobaltlady.
I have three stores at Blujay that I publically advertise, and two are doing very well. They are the stores I promote. The other store is for my 'odds and ends' that I have leftover from eBay. I use that store as part of my marketing package for website stuff, mainly to show how to setup and use a template on Blujay. I haven't sold a thing from that store, but I do use it a lot as part of my 'coaching' package. My other stores I use as private catalogues for targeted customers and that is where I generate most of my sales.
One of the most exciting things I find about Blujay is how your listings show up in froogle if you title your store and listings according to the pointers in the above thread. One of my real estate listings is coming up on page one of froogle. If you do a search for Canadian Real Estate on froogle.com you will see one of my listings second from last on the first page.
MyBlujay stores are http://www.blujay.com/canadianrealestate, http://www.blujay.com/mizteek (Gotta get more stuff made and listed there as I am almost sold out!) and http://www.blujay.com/berrybug - also need to list more as store is basically empty at this point. You can check the counters on the pages to see which stores are generating the most hits. The hits on 2 of my blujay stores are low as I just relisted some stuff, but on the Mizteek store I have my own counter that records the total hits since the product was first posted, so it shows more accurate numbers.
I also need to go in and update my other real estate listings to get them back on page one of the keyword search results for Canadian Real Estate. Last week they were all on page one. Froogle likes fresh content it seems.
I now only list one or two items on eBay with a banner and link in my about me page to my blujay stores. I have also notified my customers where my goodies are stashed, so all in all it works very well.
It will be interesting to see what happens if google gets going with their new 'venue' everyone is talking about. Blujay is good practice for the event that they ever get things operational with their database site.
Sorry for the long post. As you can tell, I really like Blujay. But I am concerned as to what the site owners are doing to generate revenue. I'd like to see the site stay around for a long time, so it is a concern (at least it is to me) at this point in time.
Here's my blujay logo I use in my eBay listings, blog and other promotional materials. I checked with Blujay for permission to use their logo graphic in this banner. They approved, no problem.
Answer
eBay hasn't closed your listings or killed your About Me page for linking to Blujay - that violates their linking policies.
I'm glad to hear someone's positive Blujay results though, thanks for the input!
P.S. Roundabout, I apologize if you thought my post was spamming for Blujay - I was just looking for more input about a venue I'm using.

Hi Katiana: I know that it does. Mustn't ruffle the gorilla's feathers!
Upside is, most of my customers know where I am now, and eBay is just so 'finished' for me that I no longer care what they do to me. eBay today is not the eBay I knew and loved. It's a dark stranger in a dark alley. The time has simply come for me to move on. Let them do what they want to me - I no longer care.

Does anyone have a email for them? I'm trying to change something on my account and for the life of me I cannot find any contact info.
I've tried to PM the "forum_admin" on their boards twice now with no reply. Me thinks the site is running without a whole lot of intervention by the management. Don't get me wrong, I like the site, I don't think the owners spend a whole lot of time there anymore. I know Jason use to post here on here, but I haven't seen him for more than 6 months.
TIA

Whois blujay? They don't give you any real contact information. How can you trust that? They use a cheap but big webhoster. 1&1 but hide their real information as to who they really are. At least you know who Ebay is and they have an address. blujay is very sneaky about everything. Their main man is Adam. Like you don't know from Adam. They have a supposed spokesperson. Henderson HsieH. Very little info on this one. You get what you pay for. You don't pay to sell but you get no sales. If you pulled up roots from Ebay and went to blujay you are in for a big disappointment. Others that say they made the big move and are happy are lying. Lots of traffic but no sales. Flaky people on their forums. Mostly homebodies that don't work so they want a cheap place to sell. Others switched from Ebay because they are fat cats too cheap to pay their fair share while the small seller pays for 90% of all Ebay revenues. Where did I get my numbers? I should be skeptical but I believe it. Ebay sent out the message before they made the rate hikes for the big sellers stating this. The head guy that looks like a young Charles Laughton I forget his name. He does the town hall meetings and stuff. Anyway I think blujay is going to pull up stakes after they get enough suckers otherwise why are they hiding? Who owns them? I don't mean the webhost. I mean who really owns them?
Answer
Lots of traffic but no sales.
You know, I see this same statement made on the Ebay boards and I would like to know what it is based on? On a site like blujay or ecrater how can anyone know how sales are? A sale is strictly between the seller and the buyer. No records or "completed listings" to check. So how is it that anyone can say "no sales" with authority?
Answer
Why such a negative first post? My first thought after reading this bump of a year old thread was...do you wiggle or do you waggle?

Blujay is not eBay. Use it properly, you get resuts.
