Amazon transaction buyer didn't claim package and was returned to me What now?

Question
June 19 received order for a book. June 20 I shipped it with edc. A few days ago I received it back in the mail with a yellow sticker saying it was unclaimed. It has written on the package "NL 6/24 6/29 7/14" and the tracking shows all of these attempted deliveries. The buyer has not submitted a claim. I paid for the postage on this package already. I couldn't find anywhere in the amazon help items that covered this. What happens now? If this were an ebay transaction I could make him pay postage again, but I have this feeling I'm screwed.

Answer
From a business standpoint, there's no way I would cover the cost of a second shipment, barring very unusual circumstances or for a very good customer.
Not knowing exactly how amazon works, however... I think you may be right. Aren't you given an "allowance" for shipping through Amazon? I would be emailing Amazon's support about this...

Answer
Could be, the book was too large to fit in their mail slot/box.
You should have the email addy of the buyer. Email the buyer and let them know the attempted delivery dates and that the book was returned to you.
Some sellers will pay the postage to reship -- particularly if it is an expensive book.
If it was a cheaper book and I was the seller.... I would email the person and offer the option of mailing postage or sending it via paypal. (That might be the wrong thing to do, but.... ) I would also let them know they had the option of a refund, LESS postage.
Asking seller support might be wise. Sometimes they are slow to respond. Try reading the following boards:

Answer
Email them a bill for reshipping. I don't know how amazon handles it though, I'm sure you may be stuck on the fees.
