I should mention that the future for our ebay store looks bleak... at 8% comission, $15.00/month and 3p/item/month, not to mention ebay's constant underhanded tactics towards it's customers, and the low-ball attitude of many ebay buyers, it gets harder to stay open every day...

Answer
No - but I even posted a thread a few months back asking for input on opening one - and I gots lots of great feedback, which encouraged me to try. Then, it seemed like within a week, eBay started changing things with the Stores, and they haven't stopped yet. Thus I have kept delaying my decision to open one. Why can't eBay ever leave things alone? (don't bother answering that - purely a rhetorical whine)

Answer
for me it works very well. When my health allowed I had three eBay stores and ran three sites on eBay...I did well with it.
I do not like being part of eBay but right now it is my bread and butter. I have spent many hours trying to develop a customer base elsewhere. I still am working very hard at the OCM to do this. I am considering a website that really sells items, not just one that directs customers to places to buy my wares. However, being able to dedicate my energy to doing this just isn't happening and quite frankly I cannot afford the services of folks who do a decent job helping you with the initial set up.
I don't mind paying "the devil (eBay) its due" because it is cheaper than a B & M, (been there done that) or space in a flea market (this is a VERY generic term in Arkansas). However, I think that eBay is unethical and has sleazy business practices at best. eBay is a dysfunctional system that needs a serious overhaul in its management team and that needs to "quit making improvements" until it works the glitches out in its current software. I think that most people who work at eBay could use a few Dale Carnagie courses and serious ethics training.
It is because of the rotten core of the eBay management style that I loath doing business on eBay but I certainly like the sales I have thus I encounter the double edged sword. For those of you who say that one can do without eBay I commend you...I have almost killed myself trying to make "St. Elsewhere" happen and lost money in the process. For me the "evil eBay" is where I make my dirty money to survive.
Jim, if you are doing this poll to see if storefronts at OCM are viable I want you to know that my commitment to OCM stands. If storefronts are created here I will put in a store at OCM. I am here for the long haul and am a partner with OCM.
