Endicia/Dazzle Question

Question
Happy New Year, Everone!!
We mistakenly sent the wrong item to the buyer. We would like to send the correct item along with a pre-paid, self-addressed Priority tyvek envelope for the buyer to return the wrong item at our expense.
Could someone please talk us thru on how to do this... If the item weighted 1 lb or less, the postage would be the same to and from and it wouldn't be a problem, but the item weighs 2 lbs. When I enter our address (the seller) in the "Ship To:" section of the mailing label, I obviously do not get the correct shipping amount because Endicia thinks I am mailing it to myself within the same state (postage should be $5.30, but comes up $4.05).
We're hoping there is a way to print a PM label from NY to Fla with the correct shipping amount, and without causing more trouble for the buyer by making him go to the post office... Any help would be sooo appreciated!!
Thanks for your time...

Answer
Assuming you have the premium or higher level of service.
Open Dazzle
Enter the address of the person that has the item you want to return just like you were going to mail them something. Then click on Postage and then options. In the Premium Options tab, tick print as reply postage. You may also want to add other features and services, but that should get you started.

Answer
If you just have the non-Premium account here's one way to try:
First print just the address label - select "no mail class choosen" from the postage type menu, and print out the label with just the address info.
Then go back and print out a postage correction for the total amount of the postage - found under Postage Options on the print screen.
It's a bit clunky, and it won't have DC or a direct record of printing like a normal label would, but it will create the postage paid labeled Priority envelope you need! At least that's what I would try if I were doing it!
FYI, your buyer will still have to drop off the envelope at the Post office if it weighs over one lb, or else arrange to have the carrier pick it up.

Actually it can go in a mailbox if it will fit even if it is over 1 lb. Postage by Endicia is considdered metered mail and not stamped mail. Metered mail is exempt from the mailbox weight limit. There was a time that it was not, but I know this is the way it is now and I have not had a problem with this in several years.

Thanks for the correction - it's rarely an issue for me, as I do mostly bulk pick-ups, or have boxes too big for the box, but I don't think I knew that the regs had changed about hevier boxes. I know that international mail over 16 oz still can't go in the mailbox. But it's good to know I can drop a small but heavy Priority box in the mail if I need to.

Hi Romarc,
My name is Bodin and I work for Endicia.
If you have a premium account or higher you can print reply postage. JRF's instructions were great.
You shouldn't print "Postage Corrections" to use as reply postage. The correction will have a date on it and will also print your zip code as the "Mailed From" zip.
Because there's a very good chance the date will be incorrect when the customer sends the item back and there's an almost certain chance that it won't be mailed from your zip code, USPS can reject the label.

Hi Bodin,
Thank you for joining here and helping out.

Answer
Whoops - thanks for that info Bodin - that's what I get for trying to think outside the box! I never thought there was any other info associated with the "additional postage" option.

That's why I don't usually post in these business/info threads - I inevitably get something wrong!
