Shipping to Russia?

Question
Is there a problem with shipping to Russia?
I've got a potential bidder (who lives in the US) who wants to bid on my auction as a wedding gift for someone who lives in Russia. She wants to know if I can ship it there. Does anyone see a problem with this?
Thanks!! (I'm heading out shortly, but will be back later.)

Answer
Well, you have PayPal Seller Protection for the USA, Canada & the UK. The buyer is from the USA, so you'd be protected, if he/she pays by PayPal.
If the item was expensive, I'd send the package by Registered Mail with a Return Receipt, but that's just me.

Answer
It's not an expensive item--I didn't realize PP was guaranteed for the UK! BUT, is that only if I ship to a "verified" or whatever address? She's paying me with her account and wants me to ship to another address in Russia.
I'm not really worried about losing money on the item--I'm more worried about getting caught up in a scam of some sort and/or getting my first neg.
OK, I'm way tired and hope all that made sense.

Answer
Your only covered if you ship to the address Paypal says is OK and verified.

Answer
Thanks, LOP. The auction closes Sunday early evening. I'm going to bed and will think on it a bit. I'm hoping that I can block the bidder if I decide to later tomorrow?

Answer
I checked this out on the eBay international trading site and am so glad I did! Apparently this is a scam that has become quite common with a bidder wanting you to ship to a cousin who is getting married in Russia.
I replied to the question, saying that PayPal won't cover the transaction if I ship to another address, so would need to ship to her own verified address and have her ship the item to Russia herself.
I doubt I'll hear anything further from her.

Answer
Glad you found out it was a scam. Would be prudent to block the ID from bidding, block their email addy, and report the ID to fraud& safety.

Answer
So what would the scam be? I guess I'm dense tonight...
claiming non-receipt with Paypal?

Answer
On my paypal account I can add a mailing address. Then I can select that address for my purchase to be mailed to.

But if your second address was Kiev you can bet PP wouldn't guarantee anything about shipping there...
