Question
"Sellers offering insurance may only charge the actual fee for insurance. No additional amount may be added, such as “self-insurance”. Sellers who do not use a licensed 3rd party insurance company may not require buyers to purchase insurance. This is a violation of state law. "
Answer
That would be Californya state law?
Have no problem with this ruling.
I "self insure", but never had my 50 cent
charge required anyway.
Now to see what they say about inflated shipping!
Answer
Interesting.
So how are they going to monitor that? The 3rd party insurance I use, there is no indication on the label or on the postage amount that insurance was purchased. It is billed monthly, in with the service fee, and not included with the postage. How would they know if insurance was purchased or not?

If I understand it correctly, they are leaving it up to bidders to report "suspected" sellers.

I don't see anything about labor involved in packaging the product. So if I sell a 128-piece set of china, I am not allowed to bill one penny for the HOUR it takes for me to pack it up????
Why is it that I feel while this "new" policy may bring down some of the bigger "gougers", it will also hurt more honest sellers?

From Policy -- Handling Fee: Actual packaging materials costs may be charged. A handling fee in addition to actual shipping cost may be charged if it is not excessive.
Looks like you would be able to charge a reasonable amount for your time to pack.
Answer
Used to be, handling fees and such were built into the opening bid......
Back in the days of List It and It Will Sell for Obscene Amounts! LOL
Answer
I just charge a S&H fee & it covers shipping, packaging & private insurance.
just keep the handling fee's at a reasonable price & not many would even care.
Most larger companies charge outrageous handling fee's & they get away with it. Why can they do it, but they don't allow us to do the same thing? Didn't want to mention names.
