I may need to ship a large, heavy item from WI to CT. I have no idea how to go about that. Are there companys that come to your house and crate it for you and take it? I don't want to attempt to pack this for shipping myself. Who would you use to do this. Anyone have any idea of cost?

The first place I'd check is Craters and Freighters. They do exactly what you want. But it's not cheap. They have a web site, but I'm too lazy to post a link. Sorry!

There was long thread here on this topic. Probably at least a year old. I remember someone recommending Grey Hound but not if your item is too heavy for that option.

What's the size & weight?
Does the item need to be packaged?
From there Terms & Conditions:
Shipments that are not wrapped or packed in containers will be accepted only if they are of such nature that they will not damage or be damaged by other shipments and baggage.
