Answer
Just fill in the form and get the prior notice receipt and take it to the PO (stick it on the front of your package if your PO have no idea), OR send the food and just write on the customs sticker it's a gift - do not write that it's food on the sticker.

Answer
Thanks forthat Rochy, but on the prior notice form, it asks for an 11-digit airway bill master code. It says that the first 3 is the IATA code for the airport. The other 8 numbers is tracking from the carrier.
My question is, according to wiki IATA code is a 3-letter designation for the airport - SYD in my case for Sydney Airport. So its not a number? How do I get around that?
I'm going to assuming the rest of the 8-digit is from the customs form which I've already filled out. Sending tim tams couldn't be more difficult

Answer
Oh that is mental! ha ha. Just send the tim tams and pretend it's some CDs

Answer
I just realised my customs form number is 9-digit >.< so there goes that assumption >.<
eta its so stressful

Answer
I've been sending tim tams & caramello koalas to a friend in the US for the past year.
You need to register with the US FDA website & fill in a Prior Notice application after which you get a confirmation number. Then you just put the confirmation number on the green customs label when you're at the Post office
https://www.access.fda.gov/oaa/
It takes a little while to get the hang of filling the details in (food type, packaging type) but it takes less than 10min overall.
ETA - I've never had to complete an airway bill number etc, doesn't exist if you're sending it regular post Airway bills only relate to couriers etc
