Question
Bon apres midi,
I need a group effort to help me make over my new boyfriend. Usually I date fashionistos, so its the first time I have had to do this. I am actually very excited at the impending shopping trips and styling conversations however I have one BIG problem and big is an understatement....
he is 6'8"
Apparently the reason why he wears sportswear all the time is because he can't find anything that fits him properly. Now my response was buy it big and get it tailored. Which for him is too much effort etc. I will slowly have to wean him on to the glory of tailoring.
But in the meantime, what stores and brands can you suggest I steer him towards? I would love, love, love to get some advice on this.
Answer
I think RL do a range for really tall men. Dont know if its available in Australia though
Answer
I've got nothing for you here, I'm just a shade under 6" so usually things fit me pretty well without the need for too much alteration. Good luck!
Answer
Hehe you sound like you're training a puppy - can I ask why you "have to do this"?
And hey, if he's 6"8, just make sure he has good shoes!
Answer
Has he asked you to do this for him or are you doing it off your own bat? You might find you don't have a boyfriend to makeover fairly soon.
Answer
^^^ That's kind of what I was thinking.
OT but I'm going to put it out there to all the Voguettes anyway...
How important to you, is your partner's dress sense and appearance?
Answer
I must come over as a massive controlling ******, so my apologies. I think my grammar needs some tweaking.
I don't HAVE to do this because frankly, one fashion diva in a relationship is enough. He has asked for my assistance. As has his mother And his friends and my friends. Im not going with a "i'd love you more if you wore varvatos" type of attitude. He has lamented the lack of clothing options he has and I in Voguette style have heard the call to arms.
I think I shall heed emevw's advice and look at shoes- though being size 14/15 there are less options though not impossible...
However, all of that aside I must edcalre my adoration for my boy especially as I am 5"11', I can finally wear my highest Chloe platforms and feel petite. Thanks babe
Answer
Aww that's cute and fair enough if your help has been requested.
I have a friend who's 6" and she has a hard time finding guys who she doesn't tower over when in heels - though that said, the height of men in Perth is rather on the short side unfortunately (from my observations anyway).
Answer
The height of men in Melbourne is on the short side too!!
I went on a date with a 6'8" guy the other night, in heels and I felt short!!! That was a first!! And I'm 5'10 which isn't overly tall.

Aww, that's lovely.
I would try some men's fashion forums for tips. They are out there -- when I lived at home I used to see my brother on them a lot! There's one called The Style Forum I think, it's American but there are many international contributors.
