I'd like to know too! but unfortunately in Australia the Bose stores are the exclusive sellers and even if you buy it from the US and get it sent here via a personal buying service it doesn't work out much cheaper at all

I bought my ex-bf a pair for Xmas last year and only a few months later, the cord plug thingy that connected to the headset had started to break...
Luckily, it was covered under warranty and he got it replaced.
Not sure how good it was as I never used it, but he loved it!

they are really good.
But really expensive!
I dont know how much they are these days, but they were in the $500+ range a few years ago.

my dad has them cos he travels a lot and doesnt like the sound of the plane when listening to his music, but he said that while it blocks most of it out he can still hear the engines

these earphones were amazing I was lucky enough to try them out when I flew first class and they cut out heaps of the engine noise and I couldn't hear the flight attendant talking when she was right next to me without taking them off. They're also very comfortable which is a big plus for long haul flights. I really want a pair but the price is a killer even I claim back GST

We have one at work that goes with a metronap capsule. It does cut out noise external if you are wanting to listen to your own music. If you just turn the on without by itself, it does go quiet but it doesn't block out sound totally.
If you just want silence then a cheap set of earplugs will do.
