Checking received phone numbers??

Question
How do I find out the phone number of someone who has just called me on my home phone?

I know to get the "Missed calls" number, you dial *10#.

The reason I ask is that someone has just rung me and hung up as soon as I answered.... sus.... have a suspicion as to who it might be but want to do a bit of detective work to make sure

Answer
I get these same phone calls!! But I rang telstra to find out and they dont store received numbers in their system so theres no way I could find out. I also got a scarey phone call thats why I wanted to know. But I think the calling then hang up I get is a company called "Enzon" that sell mobiles. they come from another country and it takes a bit to click in and hear them. But Im not sure...
Good luck. If you find out let me know.....

Answer
i get those phone calls too. usually at a time when i need to run to the phone frantically. i've had 2 types of those phones. the first one where they hang up just as you pick up so you hear the dial tone. the second where it's just silent and i hang up after 10ish seconds

Answer
I get one of those every 2-4 weeks, it's so annoying. It would be because I sound very young on the phone. I've had marketers ask "could you run and get mummy or daddy please?" but at least I dont have to talk to them for too long....grr

Answer
I'm not sure if i'm imagining this, but i'm pretty sure there's a section in the front of the white pages that tells you all of the differen things you can do with your phone, like turning call waiting on and off etc, and i think there's one for checking last answered calls. Good luck.

Answer
u can't...
i've tried ringing the phone company to find out too...
they tell u that if it happens repeatedly, contact the police who can then find out.. but apparently the police don't even tell u directly what the number is, they just investigate if it's really suss...

Answer
buy a caller Id thingo...
Then you can see whos calling before you answer!
The ones from overseas come up as "Out Of Area" and are always people with strong accents wanting to sell us something..or else you pick up, and just hear music.. I just hang up on them now

Answer
I have that but it doesnt work for mobiles that have it set not to send the caller ID and as a default optus comes up private too. I have heard you can do something to turn it on but no one bothers, I have Optus and so do my parents and they both come up as private. I think theres a way to turn off telstra caller id sending too so if theres anything suspicious about it Im sure theyd have it set to private

Answer
This is for optus home phone, Im not with optus for my mobile. But you can set on your mobile phone not to send it no matter what network youre with.
