the remote for my car alarm smashed and is broken. my spare suffered the same fate a year ago. apparently you have to have a whole new alarm system installed. i thought you would be able to buy a new remote and have it installed...i mean, what if you lost the remote..you'd have to spend hundreds on a new system?

I'm not sure if this is the same situation, but my dad sat on his only button for about 2 hours straight and it was turning on and off, finally the button stopped working so he just went to an autoelectrician, not sure what he did but he came home with 2 new buttons and the original alarm system.....

I think it depends on the type of alarm. Because when my two remotes eventually stopped working, i went back to the autoelectrician who installed the system and he gave me a new remote

unfortunately i can't go back to the place that installed it because it was 7 years ago in perth (i'm in syd now), and on top of that, the business went bust a year after i got it!

find a place that stocks/installs the same brand of alarm as yours.
usually theyre able to have a look at it and order new remote in if possible.

Is your alarm aftermarket or is it factory item?
Either way, I'm sure if you goto the company, they should be able to fix it up for you.
